The articles presented in this issue touch on important aspects of some very difficult problems\u2014 problems that grow\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">2018<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cornell International Law Journal\u2019s 2018 symposium explores the development of feminist movements across various national legal regimes and discusses the broader implications of these regional developments on the broader landscape of transnational feminism. &nbsp;The papers presented at the conference consider localized case studies, comparisons of the legal regimes of various nations, and the developments of International Human Rights Law pertaining to issues of sex and gender across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Case studies furnish a rich landscape for discussion of the efficacy of transnational norms to disparate legal and social regimes. &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawschool.cornell.edu\/faculty\/bio_cynthia_bowman.cfm\">Cynthia Bowman<\/a>\u2019s article, presented by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawschool.cornell.edu\/faculty\/bio_elizabeth_brundige.cfm\">Elizabeth Brundige<\/a>, looks at the treatment of domestic violence in the legal regime and social institutions in Ghana, comparing this case study with developments in other African nations. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/research\/activity\/ias\/workshops\/ICA-Fellows\/Kabira.aspx\">Nkatha Kabira<\/a>\u2019s paper, presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.uonbi.ac.ke\/pkmbote\/biocv\">Patricia Kameri-Mbote<\/a>, looks at the case study of the development of Kenyan feminism in a constitutional democracy and in the broader context of transnational women\u2019s rights; addressing issues such as female genital mutilation and reproductive rights. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en-law.tau.ac.il\/profile\/hshamir\">Hila Shamir<\/a>\u2019s work, presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklaw.edu\/faculty\/directory\/facultymember\/biography?id=kate.mogulescu\">Kate Mogulescu<\/a>, proposes a hybrid approach to the regulation of sex work and relies on the Israeli case study to illustrate the benefits and drawbacks of such an approach, which creates a gap between de jure and de facto legal regimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comparative legal methodologies analyze the developments of specific areas of law in differently situated nations. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northeastern.edu\/law\/faculty\/directory\/ahmed.html\">Aziza Ahmed<\/a>\u2019s paper, presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.temple.edu\/contact\/rachel-rebouche\/\">Rachel Rebouch\u00e9<\/a>, considers the significance of the development of the HPV vaccines on feminist thought in the United States and in India. &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawschool.cornell.edu\/faculty\/bio_sital_kalantry.cfm\">Sital Kalantry<\/a>\u2019s article, presented by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawschool.cornell.edu\/faculty\/bio_annelise_riles.cfm\">Annelise Riles<\/a>, draws on comparative legal methodologies to consider the efficacy of transnational feminist developments like the #MeToo movement and the legal treatment of surrogacy transactions in the United States and in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regional developments have shaped the discourse around the understanding of International Human Rights. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pure.urosario.edu.co\/en\/persons\/lina-maria-cespedes-baez\">Lina M.
